Hello everyone,

I am looking to solve the following problem. I am using
org-agenda
to view items marked as TODO. This presents a list. The list is long and it's a bit difficult to scan. Ideally, I would like to have an interface where only the first item would load, I would hit "n" and then the next and the next and so on until there are no items left.

Is this possible to do? What are the steps to take to achieve this?

Thanks very much!

I am running Spacemacs (0.200.13@27.2)

   submitted by /u/alexander_tg
[link] [comments]

Hej fellow 'macsers,

TL;DR: Can you tell me which function emacs invokes to ask for auth data?

I recently heard of
mini-frame-mode
and fell in love. While I see the need to have a vertical display for functions and variable descriptions (marginalia ftw!), I have always been irritated by a new buffer appearing "out of nowhere" on the bottom of my screen, moving the modeline etc.

So, I have adjusted the looks of
mini-frame-mode
to my liking. Now, there is one piece missing: whenever I push to my git repository,
mini-frame-mode
opens to prompt me for my git auth data. I don't want
mini-frame-mode
to handle this; instead, I want the password prompt to appear in the original mini buffer on the bottom.

I know of the
mini-frame-ignore-commands
variable. However, I don't know which program is evoked by emacs to ask me for the password. I tried skimming the Messages Buffer for it, but adding
magit-process-username-prompt
and
magit-process-password-prompt
to the list didn't change anything, and I was unable to find a reference to another function in the packages' code.

Thus: can you tell me which function emacs invokes to ask for auth data?

Have a good day, folks :)

   submitted by /u/olivuser
[link] [comments]

I will be giving a talk at this years EmacsConf2021 that was an indirect exercise in considering the new wave of programming that is upon us.

I love emacs. It's a gift to us, it's free (as in free beer) and free as in all of the essential freedoms. For all his faults, RMS has given us something very, VERY special and I for one will be forever grateful to him and the community. Yeah, I know this post is a bit of a slap on the back, but hey... we deserve it. Emacs and Emacs users rock!

I use dired with the variable
delete-by-moving-to-trash
set to
t
. But sometimes I want to delete a file (or directory) without sending it to trash. Here is how I modified the dired-deletion-commands to toggle their trashing-behavior when called with a prefix.

(defun my/dired-do-flagged-delete (&optional arg) (interactive "P") (let ((delete-by-moving-to-trash (xor arg delete-by-moving-to-trash))) (dired-do-flagged-delete))) (defun my/dired-do-delete (&optional arg) (interactive "P") (let ((delete-by-moving-to-trash (xor arg delete-by-moving-to-trash))) (dired-do-delete)))

All I have to do now is bind these functions to
x
and
D
in
dired-mode-map

Of course after that, the default reaction to prefixes is lost. Personally I don't care, because I never used it. Others might think differently about that.

   submitted by /u/Gallipo
[link] [comments]
