Head and Tail Commands in the Terminal
When you’re looking through files sometimes you just need to see the first or last lines of the document to see if it’s the one you need or get the info you want. The ‘head’ and ‘tail’ command will do just that.

‘head’ grabs the first lines of a file and ‘tail’ displays the last lines.

As an example you could type head test.txt to get the first 10 lines.
Or use the switch -n followed by a number to print any number of lines. Example: head -n 15 test.txt will give you 15 beginning lines.

Tail does the same thing but starting from the bottom.

The present report documents the otherwise subtle changes to the styling
of the
rainbow-delimiters
faces. I received user feedback from
Christopher Dimech, to whom I am most thankful. What we have tried to
achieve is two-fold (any errors are my own):

Broaden the selection of colours, without prejudice to the
overarching accessibility standard of the themes (quantified as a
contrast in relative luminance of 7:1 between any given combination
of background and foreground—the WCAG AAA standard).

Control the colour distance between adjacent values, as those apply
to each level of delimiter depth.

Those combined enhance the “rainbow” quality of the aforementioned
library and, thus, make the support for it at the theme level better
overall.

Before and after

Here are some close-up screenshots comparing the levels of delimiter
depth between old and new styles. Notice how the first level of the new
ones is the same as the main foreground (black/white). This little
touch ensures that you do not get colouration with no semantic value for
balanced expressions that are only one level deep.

Contexualised effect

Using those same styles, here is some code. Open the images to see them

at full scale. Also remember that bold and slanted constructs are
optional, as well as several other parameters—consult the Modus

Colour distance between the old colours

The following tables, written in
org-mode
notation, calculate the

colour distance between adjacent delimiter foregrounds while accounting

for their positional placement (so 1 compared with 2, 2 with 3, and so

on):

You can see in the third column that the colour distance is

inconsistent, with some combinations being better than others. Our

intent here is to normalise the distance between each pair so that the

results are more uniform.

Colour distance between the new colours

the third column shows a greater level of consistency, understood as a

harmonised distance in colour space between each pair.

The exact same distance is not always possible, because each colour
value must also conform with our accessibility target when compared to
its background. What we do here is an approximation or else an attempt
to optimise the use of resources within an overarching constraint (a
good one, but a constraint nonetheless).

Ongoing refinements

Note that it is always easier to work with colours against a dark
backdrop. Colour is luminant and darkness is interpreted as the absence
of luminance, so nuances are easier to spot. This, in turn, means that
the potential for errors is greater, even after having narrowed the
colour space to only the values that pass the accessibility criterion of
the themes (the 7:1 contrast—also check the
modus-themes-contrast

function that is documented in the manual).

Technicalities aside, this review constitutes another step towards
delivering a comprehensive package for styling GNU Emacs in accordance
with the highest legibility standard. It comes just a few days after

Peterson" />
Yeonmi Park's account of her experience at Columbia University is harrowing - as someone who had just arrived in the West after her escape from North Korea, the idea that she had to censor herself at a prestigious university like Columbia, or any university for that matter - which have historically been bastions of free thought is horrifying. Her experience serves as one example of just how far the Universities have deteriorated.

Dr. Peterson wanted to put this together because he still feels like it’s possible to save the Universities, but before that can happen, more people need to be aware of just how twisted they’ve become.
The Hebrew Bible contains one story of human failure after another, leaving us with no doubt in our minds: humanity desperately needs a leader. In this episode, Tim walks us through the structure of the Hebrew Bible and how it shows us Jonah is an anti-leader, the opposite of what humanity needs, whose failure prepares us for the ultimate leader and Savior, Jesus. This is a sneak peek into our free graduate-level course on Jonah, which will be featured in the new Classroom resource available in 2022.

View full show notes from this episode →

Timestamps

Part one (0:00-19:40)

Part two (19:40-27:30)

Part three (27:30-42:30)

Part four (42:30-end)

Referenced Resources

Interested in more?
MURRIETA, CA—Local wife Amy Walkwell has stocked up on her makeup and beauty supplies once again at her local Ulta store, informing her husband that she had to spend hundreds of dollars right now because the current Ulta sale only happens once a year, 17 times a year. The 17-times-in-a-year opportunity doesn't come every day, she argued, pointing out that if she didn't buy her eyeliner, mascara, and whatever the one for the face skin is, she'd have to wait until roughly three weeks from now for the next sale. "We're saving a ton of money here, and I'll miss out if I don't pick this up now," she said as he dropped her off in front of the store and went to go find a parking spot, where he'd be sitting in his car for roughly an hour. "Really, we're making money if you think about it. Because if I bought it during any of the 42 days of the year where Ulta isn't having a sale, I'd have spent at least 20% more."

Ubuntu!" rel="nofollow">GNOME Is Removing the Ability to Launch Binary Apps from Nautilus - OMG! Ubuntu! — GNOME developer Carlos Soriano made the commit referenced above.
In it, he reasons that without a desktop on which to place app shortcuts and binaries the express need to launch apps using Nautilus is ‘not as useful’ as it once was.
After all, the GNOME Shell desktop comes with a full-screen app launcher by default, and a slate of third-party app menu extensions are available.
Apps should be launched from an app launcher, and the file manager should manage files
Plus, for those who can put up with its slow start-up times — which is being worked on this cycle — the GNOME Software store offers ‘launch’ buttons beside apps you have installed.
“It was [once] common for apps to be delivered in a tarball, nowadays that’s out of question,” Soriano says.
“Not only that, but we are moving towards a more sandboxed system, and we should use the standard and system wide support for launching apps based on users choices.”

DMXking ultraDMX Micro USB DMX adapter/dongle: Musical Instruments

Chauvet DJ SlimPar 56 LED Slim Par Can Pro RGB Lighting Effects + DMX Cables: Musical Instruments

Q Light Controller Plus download | SourceForge.net

Disk2vhd - Windows Sysinternals | Microsoft Docs

Virtual Host Setup

Dell WD15 Monitor Dock 4K with 130W Adapter, USB-C, (450-AFGM, 6GFRT): Computers & Accessories

In this video I announce the immediate availability of my themes for
Emacs through the official package archive. I explain what this means
in practice, how the new legal arrangements stand, and talk about my
plans concerning the ongoing development of this project.

The “Modus themes” are my highly-accessible themes for GNU Emacs. They
conform with the WCAG AAA standard for colour contrast accessibility,
which stands for a minimum contrast ratio of 7:1 between the foreground
and background values.

The two themes are:

modus-operandi-theme
(light)

modus-vivendi-theme
(dark)

Here is the link to the GitLab repo of the Modus themes.

You might want to send your feedback concerning the proposed changes to

diff-mode
that I mentioned in the video. If you do not have a GitLab

account, feel free to contact me via email.
