Have you ever read the Bible and felt like you’re not “getting it” or that you’re not connecting with God? In this episode, Tim and Jon take a look at the (often unhelpful) paradigms through which we interact with Scripture. They explore how seeing the Bible as a unified story that leads to Jesus not only gives the Bible space to do what it was created to do, but frees us up to be transformed by the story it’s telling.

View full show notes from this episode →

Timestamps

Part one (0:00-15:00)

Part two (15:00-27:00)

Part three (27:00-39:00)

Part four (39:00-52:00)

Part five (52:00-end)

Referenced Resources

Interested in more? I got a new desktop computer a couplafew years ago and partitioned the hard drives and installed Debian 10 alongside the proprietary OS that came with it. Now Debian 11 has been released, but rather than upgrade I did a reinstall. I hadn't used the other OS much (at all?), so I decided to reclaim that disk space. Here are the things I did to install and configure Debian bullseye.

Jordan felt that this lecture would serve as a wonderful adjunct to his biblical series, also on Genesis, featured on this channel.

Thank you to the Montreal Jung Society and Jonathan for letting us release this video on our channel. We hope that you find it useful.

Event Title: The Symbolic World - a lecture by Jonathan Pageau

Event Description: “Meaning is showing itself to no longer be an overlay to an arbitrary world of phenomena, but rather the very pattern of reality.

Through the questions of emergence, attention and consciousness which have been permeating so many fields in the recent past, the reality of pattern, ritual and image have also come to the fore. Meaning is showing itself, in a burgeoning post-secular age, as no longer only a subjective overlay to an arbitrary world of phenomena, but rather the very pattern of reality itself. In this frame we come to realize that the archetypal truths are not mostly biological and mental constructs in humans; they are firstly the inescapable patterning of the indefinite potential of the world as it encounters intelligence.”

// SUPPORT THIS CHANNEL //
Newsletter: https://linktr.ee/DrJordanBPeterson
Donations: https://jordanbpeterson.com/donate

// COURSES //
Discovering Personality: https://jordanbpeterson.com/personality
Self Authoring Suite: https://selfauthoring.com
Understand Myself (personality test): https://understandmyself.com

// BOOKS //
Beyond Order: 12 More Rules for Life: https://jordanbpeterson.com/Beyond-Order
12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos: https://jordanbpeterson.com/12-rules-for-life
Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief: https://jordanbpeterson.com/maps-of-meaning

// LINKS //
Website: https://jordanbpeterson.com
Events: https://jordanbpeterson.com/events
Blog: https://jordanbpeterson.com/blog
Podcast: https://jordanbpeterson.com/podcast

// SOCIAL //
Twitter: https://twitter.com/jordanbpeterson
Instagram: https://instagram.com/jordan.b.peterson
Facebook: https://facebook.com/drjordanpeterson

// SPONSORS //
Interested in sponsoring my audio podcast?
In this screen cast I talk about the main idea of switching to Emacs
|
||||
and how it shares the same objective as that of the terminal/CLI power
|
||||
user: to develop a consistent, integrated computing environment.

|
||||
|
||||

Couched in those terms, I claim that the Unix philosophy of “do one
|
||||
thing and do it well” is not an obstacle to using Emacs. The Emacs
|
||||
mindset of an integrated workflow and the Unix design principles are
|
||||
not mutually exclusive.

U.S.—Following news reports that another 2,800 flights had been canceled on Tuesday—after more than 6,000 were canceled on Christmas Eve and thousands more over the weekend—spokespersons for numerous airlines came forward to protest that flights are not being canceled at all.

“When a flight doesn’t take off due to problematic crew shortages, that is not cancellation,” Delta said in a statement. “It is merely the airline holding that flight accountable.”

A United spokesperson stated, “Flight cancellation simply isn’t real. The whole concept is a smokescreen to distract from actual systemic forces of flight suppression.” When asked what, exactly, that means, the spokesperson explained that none of these flights are banned from flying again. "These flights will have plenty of work in the future, as long as they get hired by The Daily Wire."

Passengers who had been stranded at San Francisco International Airport for over twelve hours are now being urged to "build their own" aircraft.
