I have the nVIDIA RTX 3080 Ti card, with the latest drivers.

My main environment is in one login, and the other login is where I play games. I maintain that separation for security reasons, as my gaming login has no privs.

What I run into all the time is my main login eating up VRAM while I am gaming, forcing my game to cut back on the details of its rendering. (Path of Exile).

The VRAM is not consumed right away. I am playing the game for a few minutes, then the available VRAM goes to zero. When I switch back to the main login via the ctrl-alt-Fn keys, all the excess VRAM is immediatly released and becomes available. Then the gaming login begins to chew up VRAM after a little while despite doing nothing.

I have been pulling my hair out, because it is not clear to me why this should be happening at all. And searching for it, so far, has turned up nothing meaningful.

I run nvtop in both accounts to monitor the VRAM usage.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!
