I see my NVIDIA GPU uses like 12 to 15 W of power, when in battery mode, while the total power consumption reported by powerstat is 28W!

Is there any way to turn off/suspend only the gpu, and manually wake it, only when I need it?

Also, I see xorg using my GPU, even though my display is rendered with iGPU. Does that contribute to the GPU being awake all the time? Is there a way to disable that?

Note - My laptop dosen't have optimus

Edit: Is there any way to have only compute stuff, and not the graphical stuff in nvida driver install? I use my GPU only for compute on Linux.

Thanks!

   submitted by /u/SuperSecureHuman
[link] [comments] |
