I'm new to Arch and linux as a whole, and I was using chrome while hosting a game server in the background. My RAM usage was hovering around the limit until a point was reached when audio started stuttering, then everything froze and audio cut out. The last frame of the youtube video I was watching was the only thing I could see, no keyboard shortcuts worked and I had to hard reboot to fix it. I assume it was RAM being the issue since my other resources (CPU usage, etc) were nowhere near their respective limits. If it is needed I have 12 gb RAM, the server was using 6 gb and I guess everything else added up to 12.

I was wondering if there's anyway to prevent this from happening, as this is the second time it has happened and it's a huge inconvenience. Huge thanks in advance

   submitted by /u/Vantage188
[link] [comments]
