* How Do I Do Something?
Maybe I need to do a channel around teaching ministries and ministers how to use technology well/wisely?
* Using technology wisely for ministry
One of the very hardest things about our current world's landscape is that technology makes ministry both easier and harder at the same time. I'd love to capitalize on all of the intricacies and give people a chance to stop using all of the terrible technology there is out there. How can I teach and at the same time help folks do it on a budget an easily.

** Why use open source
As a minister you may be wondering why if the technology you're using is safe or has negative impact on others, and if you haven't had those thoughts, well not to worry, most people don't. But some of us do care about whether buying that phone or computer is in support of slave labor or whether or not using this service or that is supporting all kinds of evil organizations across the world.
My name is Chris and I'm here to help small ministries navigate the landscape of technology without compromising their beliefs.
If you've ever had those thoughts, that many of the pieces of technology you'd like to use sometimes give you either the heeby geebies or in some case just outright go against your philosophical, religious, or moral beliefs, then you aren't the first. I've come a realization over the last year or two that many of the pieces of technology or software that I use are just super likely to be supporting all kinds of horrid things that I wish I wasn't affiliating myself with.
So what kinds of things am I talking about? What pieces of software or hardware am I referring to? Well, things like, is my choice of smartphone or computer supporting a company that uses slave labor somewhere in it's supply chain. Things like, is using Facebook continually supporting them to create a social media that is making the world more and more addicted to social media. Is using Google products ok since they track literally everyone and can influence people based off their searches and YouTube videos. Is using MacOS or Windows ok if they are multibillion dollar companies and constantly push things that go against my religious beliefs?
These and more are constantly pushing me to consider using alternatives to a lot of these companies. Now, if I were to convince you to use something different how would I go about that?

** Small Church/Ministry Technology - The Best Way to do Ministry
A lot of the landscape of ministry radically changed this last year as the Coronavirus hit and forced a lot of our churches and ministry to find new ways of doing ministry. We heard from a ton of people left and right to get online, stream to facebook or youtube, have meetings through Zoom, and buy or use this and that technology, but a lot of us are left wondering, is this really how we should be doing this?
My name is Chris and I want to help small ministries do their ministry well with technology, while at the same time do their ministry in a way that they won't be nervous to use it or afraid of what they are buying into. I'd like to help you trust the tools you use and know that you're helping build God's Kingdom while not harming our world as you do it.
We are in a time when we are more connected than ever before and the Church has the opportunity to capitalize on that and reach people in entirely new ways. The problem with it is that the Church didn't create a lot of the tools that we would use to do that. We can use those tools and perhaps God's Kingdom can grow because of it and I think it does, but a lot of those tools come with a lot of tainted ideas surrounding them.
You and I right now can reach out to hundreds, if not thousands, of people with something like Facebook. With a few lines of text typed out on our phones, our messages can spread to hundreds of people very quickly. The problem is, Facebook itself, is kinda scary.
The vast majority of us know that it's creepy when Facebook and Google seem to know things they shouldn't. They show you ads that are so incredibly accurate to what you might need or want that the only possible reason they got that info is they are tracking everything you do or say and know every detail about your life. Well, we all know that it's true. At least most of us do. They do know everything about us and it's getting to be really terrifying what they may be capable of with that kind of info.
Add ontop that many of us are highly concerned about Facebook and Twitter's banning of folks who seem to have differing ideas than others and some people getting half of what they say censored or removed because it's fake news and we are beginning to understand why it was so important for people to be free to say what they wish. That's one of the core things the Founding Father's of America wanted in the US, freedom of speech. Because if one is not free to say what they want, they won't be heard, and then whoever has the power to stop them from saying it, can become power hungry to the point where they slowly gain absolute control and people are no longer free.
All of this is really scary and as Christians who wish to see God's Kingdom here on earth, we know that this likely means persecution to the Christians first. We'd all just go underground and have to do everything without technology.
But what if I told you that the technology exists to combat this. If many folks were able to fight this for a while, we'd end up with a freer internet and a place where Christians can share about Jesus freely and effectively. And the technology exists that even if the internet continues on this locking down trend to a handful of organizations, we'd still be able to be a part of the internet communication because we can take ownership of those avenues ourselves.
Well, that's the entire purpose of this channel, to help us as Christians start down this path. Taking back control of technology and helping you do it in a way that isn't difficult or scary. If that sounds like something you can get behind, click on the subscribe button and like this video. Leave a comment below, what is the biggest piece of technology that scares you or that you just don't know how you'd use to do ministry? Maybe it is Facebook, Youtube, Video Cameras, computers in general. Maybe it's Zoom or video meetings. Let me know what frustrates you down in the comments.
