That's what I said after both finishing the install and then reflecting upon leaving ubuntu

I've been using Ubuntu since Ubuntu 5 after having enough of windows xp. Used Ubuntu up until last week, when I was kinda wanting to see what else there was out there.

However, despite using Linux for 15 years, I felt like I never really "used" Linux, and didn't understand stuff. I barely knew how ppa's worked, I knew how to cd and mv and mkdir and sudo and apt-get but that was about it. I figured installing and using arch will be a great way to learn how to use linux.

Using the arch wiki on my laptop was kind of miserable. It took 7 install attempts to get it to boot with wireless internet, but once I finally got it, I loaded up kde plasma (looks WAY better than kde from 2005 haha) and now I'm using arch btw

It's been 24 hours but I really have enjoyed it so far. Pacman is so fast! I hate aptitude now! I will likely put arch on my desktop before the month is over.

   submitted by /u/Pascals_Wigger
[link] [comments] |
