It's been atleast 3 days, and I haven't been able to set up Nvidia drivers on my Arch install. The problem is Arch itself. I tried Manjaro and the same thing happened. Instead of lightdm, a tty terminal starts. I'm able to boot into the installation by removing Nvidia drivers and then installing gdm, but I want to play games. I haven't been able to work this out. I tried nvidia-lts, nvidia, nvidia-cgl, it just doesn't seem to work. I installed everything related to nvidia I'm sure. This one time the system even started recognizing it (though not putting it under any load) but the moment I switched to only nvidia with optimus, it returned to the tty.

   submitted by /u/xa_nemesis_ax
[link] [comments]
