My quick story.

I got tired of Microsoft policy and I was looking for alternative. Tried most of well-known different distros and literally I encountered annoying bugs and inconveniences with all of them. When I heard about arch I fell in love with the idea of making OS from scratch. I swear that if the wiki and guides weren't that rich of content I wouldn't even think of trying. It took me around 10 tries in 2 days but with every other try I learnt something new. The knowledge of every step proved to me that its better to understand than try to brainlessly copy and paste. The final installation felt like a speed-run (~15minutes). Back to now, I've been using arch with KDE plasma for 3 months and it runs flawlessly. No bugs with DE which I had with popular distros. I am absolutely content with my arch experience.

In the meantime with the knowledge I got I was able to gently introduce linux (not arch) to my mother and mother-in-law. They've been using linux for a month and they are amazed how quickly it runs compared to windows.

I love the community and I am happy to be part of it.

   submitted by /u/tornado90
[link] [comments] |
