Dear all.

I have some text with selected phrases marked within asterisks ("*") because org-mode syntax helps to visualize them inside the text, and I'd like to extract those phrases to another buffer.

As I understand after some searching, one way is to use occur.

However, I'm struggling (to say it lightly) to find a working regex for this occurrence that is "whatever is between asterisks". I tried txt2regex but no success still...

Does anyone knows a way to do this; or been in this situation and found a different approach? My lisp/regex fu is very much near the bottom, but I'm happy to learn.

As always, thanks a lot for your time and attention. :)

Best regards...

PD: I'm thinking about ways to do semantic analysis with org-mode. If anyone's interested on this we can arrange some collaboration. :)

   submitted by /u/edumerco
[link] [comments]

Hello,

I'm back with some more question for my quest to move over to emacs. This time it's only about HELM (there will be more questions I'm sure of it), but this thread is only for HELM.

I have a couple of question I'd love to get some help with. I've tried googling for them, but only found answers that didn't really answer the question, or I couldn't actually understand how the answer worked. :(

Is there a way to make helm-find-file to also look in sub-directories? When I googled for this, most people suggested Projectile with helm, but I could not get that working at all. There was no error or such, but it did not search in sub-directories.

Is there anyway to make helm open a new window (or frame, not sure what it is called in emacs) at the center of the screen? There was some old questions here on this reddit for it, but they were 5 years old and then it seems like it wasn't possible. However, I saw on the official documentation that it should be possible. I just can't get it to work for me. I tried using Shackle to solve it as well, and that improved it, but still does not feel as good.

I believe that was my two helm questions I was mostly struggling with.

Thanks in advance

   submitted by /u/AtZeroOne
[link] [comments]

Hello,

About a half hour ago I was getting an error when trying to install android studio. I git cloned the url from the aur, changed into the android-studio directory, and ran "makepkg -si". I got an error:

bad interpreter: No such file or directory

I tried to reboot to see if that would fix the issue, and while arch was booting it got stuck on:

Starting version 249.7-2-arch /dev/sda3: clean, 331750/15466496 files, 6004033/61859153 blocks

I tried rebooting again, and got the same thing.

Any suggestions on what I should do to fix this? Or do I maybe need to reinstall?

Thank you

Edit: I did run "sudo pacman -Syu" before rebooting, but it did not fix the problem.

   submitted by /u/jojobinks231
[link] [comments]

So, I'm new to emacs but longtime vim user. I wanted to see what all the rage is about -- the only thing stopping me from using emacs is well.. I have nooooooooo idea where to start...

I want setup emacs to do the same thing my vim does or close:

Have typescript/javascript support

Have HTML, CSS, SCSS etc support - I think this is webmode?

Fuzzy finder

Indent guides

Sexy colorschemes :) (non-negotiable lol)

I prefer to work in the terminal so if I can get icon support in terminal that would amazing. I know this is possible... if vim can do it then emacs can.

Vim keybinds.. again, non-negotiable.

I feel like this might be a bit too much lol.. but primarily would like to have really solid support for web development.

   submitted by /u/EquivalentCancel6
[link] [comments]
